Veterans group appeals indoor gun range

The Juneau chapter of Veterans for Peace has appealed a permit for Juneau Mercantile and Armory LLC to build an indoor gun range and retail shop near the airport. “We were concerned about the idea of a shooting range in which people were going to be allowed to handle weapons of war,” Phil Smith, president of the Juneau Chapter of Veterans for Peace, said. Man fatally shoots self at firing range

TAYLOR — Police are investigating a fatal shooting Saturday morning at Top Gun Shooting Sports, 16725 Racho Road. A customer reported that people were seen running out of the store between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. saying, “Somebody shot himself; all 911.” A man died from a self-inflicted gun shot to the head at the indoor firing range at the store, which also sells handguns and rifles.
