Grant and scholarship applications are now available to children and spouses at 13 Army and Air Force installations nationwide
East Greenwich, RI - Corvias Foundation, an award-winning private, charitable foundation committed to supporting the pursuit of higher education, announced today that applications for the 2014 Our Future Scholarships and 2014 Our Family Educational Grants are now available. The Foundation is committed to supporting military families in the pursuit of higher education and has awarded more than $4.5 million in scholarships and grants to children and spouses of active-duty service members since 2006.
“This year, for the first time ever, we are so excited to be able to offer scholarships and grants to children and spouses at six Air Force bases in addition to seven Army installations,” said Maria Montalvo, Executive Director of the Corvias Foundation. “Each year we are impressed with the quality of our applicants and their educational ambitions. We are humbled to serve military families, and proud to help them reach their full educational potential.”
Applications for Our Future Scholarships must be submitted by February 13, 2014, and will be awarded to high school seniors with plans of attending a four-year university or college in the amount of up to $50,000 each. Corvias Foundation will select 10 children of active-duty service members at Forts Meade, Bragg, Polk, Rucker, Riley, Sill, and Aberdeen Proving Ground based on merit and need. In addition, as a result of Corvias’ innovative new partnership with the U.S. Air Force’s Continental Group, children at Edwards Air Force Base, Eglin Air Force Base, Eielson Air Force Base, Hurlburt Field, McConnell Air Force Base and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base will be eligible to apply for the scholarships as well. Recipients of a scholarship will be notified by April 10, 2014.
"It was the support and encouragement from my family that prompted me to dream big, but the Corvias Foundation helped to bring these aspirations to fruition,” said Shamera R., past scholarship recipient. “I could not possibly formulate a sentence that conveys the impact that this scholarship has had on my life, along with the lives of past and future recipients.”
Applications for 2014 Our Family Educational Grants must be submitted by May 8, 2014. Grants are given in the amount of up to $5,000 to spouses of active-duty service members at the installations and bases listed above. Applicants may be in any stage of the educational process. Recipients of a grant will be notified by July 10, 2014.
Applications and all necessary paperwork for both the Our Future Scholarship and Our Family Educational Grant must be submitted by the due date in order to be considered. Those chosen can begin using their scholarship or grant in the fall of 2014. Families do not have to reside in on-post housing in order to qualify for scholarships or grants. Eligible service members stationed at these 13 Army and Air Force installations can serve in any branch of the military.
On September 3, 2013, Corvias Military Living, an affiliate of Corvias Group, announced that it has assumed responsibility for the development and management of on-base housing for the U.S. Air Force’s Continental Group. The Continental Group is comprised of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.; Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska; Hurlburt Field, Fla; McConnell Air Force Base, Kan.; and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. The Air Force selected Corvias Military Living through a competitive solicitation procedure headed by the Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC).
